Malwai Giddha
Malwai refer's to the Malwa Region of Punjab.
Malwai Giddha is the folk dance of Malwai Region Of Punjab.This Dance is Performed by bachelors.This Includes teasing of other people in their folk boliyan (songs).
It originated in the Sangrur district of Punjab and then become famous & got started performing in the entire Malwa Region of Punjab(Muktsar,Bathinda,Faridkot,Ferozpur,Sangrur,Mansa,Patiala districts).
This was usually performed by veteran bachelars.In this dance the folk instruments are used. Performers play the instrument and use them for the music. No other extra music is played.
Instruments:
The instruments use in the malwai giddha are not for show off only but the performer have to play it in rhythm.So the performer should have proper knowlegde to play the instrument and the way to carry it.The instruments are dacorated in a pleasent way so that it will give a pleasent look to the viewers.
The folk instruments used in Malwai Giddha are:
Bolliyan are the heart beat of the malwai giddha.Malwai Giddha is famous because of the bolliyan.Bolliyan which are sing in the malwai giddha are different from the ordinary bolliyan sing in the Bhangra.These have a different way of tone(rhythm).In malwai giddha performers try to cover as many as aspects of life he can cover in this dance.The very first bolly be always to remember The GOD.Here are some bolliyan below.Read and enjoy them.
